Zhou and Alfa Romeo are hungry for more success after the Canadian GP

Zhou Guanyu was a pleasant surprise at the Canadian Grand Prix. He didn’t scare Max Verstappen, but he did bring joy to his team and fan base. Zhou began Formula Two racing in 2019 – from which he ousted numerous victories and then he eventually impressed Alfa Romeo’s principle (in 2022) to put his hopes in the driver that found inspiration from Fernando Alonso at age 5.

The rook that wanted to be his country’s first-ever F1 driver had an inspiring first-ever start as he placed tenth at the Bahrain GP. Sadly, the team-mate of Valtteri Bottas didn’t discover points all the way up until the Canadian GP. Well, he showed signs of life and certainly was a winner from the Canadian GP – as he placed eighth (one place behind Verstappen and one place ahead of his icon in Alonso).

His racing brother, Bottas, felt quite positive about the team’s direction, and Zhou. Per F1, Zhou stated, “It’s nice, because I think we’ve had a couple of tricky races as a team. So now we could actually see towards end of the race we had solid race pace, like we’ve seen in some races this year. And I’m really happy for my team mate as well. He had good pace, a strong race, and it’s good to get points with both cars”.

Zhou, who is almost ten years younger than his partner, will certainly look to help his team improve in the long season ahead.
